Hemingway’s Adventure

My client, Brittany Alfrey, will be departing from Oak Park, Illinois on Friday July 3, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. and arrive in Valencia at approximately 8:50 am on their time which is six hours ahead of the time in Illinois on July 4rd.  So total the flight is about nine and a half hours including the one stop in Paris, France to switch planes.  The stop in Paris is about an hour and fifteen minutes.  The price of this flight would cost Brittany somewhere around 2,100 dollars including the plane ticket and all the extra necessities she will purchase on the way or while in Paris.

July 4th– Pick up car from Hertz which is located in the airport. I rented a ford focus which runs at 160 euros per day, which is 224 U.S. dollars.  I reccommended Brittany to the Zenit Valencia Hotel which is located right in front of the local bull ring. Per night the room runs at about 322$. Some restaurants i recommended to Brittany were Civera, El Plat, La Rina, and El Paso were some local favorites.

July 5th– On this day I have a charter set up that leaves at 8:00 a.m. for Brittany to go deep sea fishing on.  I booked her for a half day so the trip will end at 2:00 p.m. This will cost Brittany 200 euros or 280 U.S. dollars.

                         Charter

July 6th– Brittany will rest up and eat at one of the recommended restaurants of her choice and pack up and leave for Pamplona around 5:00 p.m.  She will arrive in Pamplona, Spain at approximately 10:30 p.m. and check into the Zenit hotel in Pamplona.  These rooms are a little pricier this time of the year because the running of the bull is taking place during this week, and it’s right in the middle of all the festivities. The room will cost her 300 euros or 400 U.S. dollars.

July 7th-The first running of the bull takes place on this day.  The running starts at 8:00 a.m. and i have hooked Brittany up with a very nice balcony which overlooks the street that the run will be taking place on.  It is a very nice room and it provides you with a great view of the running of the bull.  The actual bullfight doesnt begin until 6:30 p.m. and I have also provided a ticket for Brittany in the shaded section of the stadium which cost 75 euros or 105 U.S. dollars. I recommended a highly rated restaurant, Europa, for her to eat at.  An average plate at this restaurant is about 60 U.S. dollars.

July 8th-Brittany will be leaving Pamplona at 7:00 a.m. on her flight that will arrive in Paris, France at 8:30 a.m. She will be flying with Air France and her ticket will cost $1300.  This was so pricey becuase it was a non stop flight and they are very hard to book.  When arriving Brittany informed me that she just wanted to walk the whole city.  She will check into the Ritz Hotel which is a very expensive hotel running at 900 euros a night which is 1260 U.S. dollars.  Brittany will eat at one of Hemingway’s favorite restaurants, The Course Restaurant.  This will cost her approximately 60 euros or 84 U.S. dollars.

                            Eiffel Tower

July 9th– Brittany will be taking a tour of the city at 12:00 p.m. This approximately last an hour and a half.  The bus will pick her up from her hotel and this tour will cost 58 euros or 80 U.S. dollars.  Later that night i made a reservation for Brittany for the dinner and cruise at Marina de Paris.  This will cost her 104 euros or 146 U.S. dollars.

               Marina de Paris

July 10th-July 18th– Brittany will be leaving Paris at 7:00 a.m. and arriving in Nairobi, Kenya at 1:45 p.m. This ticket is also very expensive, costing Brittany 4,700 U.S. dollars. At the airport a bus will pick Brittany up to take her to her Hemingway Safari which takes place on and around Mt. Kilimanjaro for the next week. The bus from the airport to the safari will cost Brittany 40 euros or 56 U.S. dollars.  This Safari trip in whole will cost Brittany approximately 8,600 dollars.

                                                                         Mt. Kilimanjaro

July 19th- Brittany will be picked up from the Safari by a bus and taken back to the airport. This will once again cost Brittany 56 U.S. dollars.  Once at the airport she will have a rental car waiting for her.  The rental car is $224, and she will be on her way to Uganda which will take her most of the day she has remaining.  Brittany informed me that she will be sleeping in her rented car this night to save a little money since she won’t need a room any other night.

July 20th- July 22nd– Brittany will be departing for her Red Chilli Murchisson trip at 8:30 a.m.  This is where Hemingway’s plane crash happened.  They will be hiking through the forest and at night they will set up camp like Hemingway use to.  This trip will only cost Brittany 180 U.S. dollars.  Brittany’s trip will end on the 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

                 Murchison Trip

July 23rd– Brittany will drive to the Kampala airport in Uganda, and will be leaving at 4:15 p.m. for her flight to Venice, Italy.  This will cost Brittany $880.

July 24th– Brittany will arrive in Venice in the early morning hours, and pick up her rental car which is $224 dollars.  She will check into Hotel San Marco which is a very famous and very expensive hotel where the rooms run at 350.00 U.S. dollars per night. Brittany will be taking a Gondula Ride in the morning around 10:00 a.m. until about 11:00 a.m. This ride will cost Brittany 59.00 U.S. dollars.  Also in the afternoon Brittany will eat at Hemingway’s favorite bar, Harry’s Bar. If Brittany takes it easy on the drinks it will cost her about $200 dollars to dine there. At night Brittany will be taking a ghost tour at the house at Rialto Bridge.  This wil start at 9:30 p.m. and last approximately 45 mins, and cost Brittany approximately another $30.00.

                                     Gondola Ride

July 25th-Brittany will be spending her next couple days flying.  First she will get on her flight in Venice at 8:00 a.m. and fly to Rome. She will be flying Air One and it will cost her $139. From Rome she will fly to Orlando and this will cost her $1700 flying with Air Canada. Brittany will stay in the airport for awhile until her flight the next day.

July 26th– Brittany’s flight to Cancun leaves at 9:00 a.m. and she wil arrive in Cancun at 11:30 a.m. Then from Cancun she will finally catch her flight to Cuba  and will arrive in Cuba at approximately 5:00 p.m. Her total flight cost will be about 400 U.S. dollars. She will rent her car at 224 U.S. dollars, and  once in Cuba, Brittany will check into NH Parque Central Hotel which runs at $200 a night.

July 27th– In Cuba there is an Ernest Hemingway Musuem that i thought Brittany would like to visit.  The visit will only cost Brittany 3 dollars.

           Hemingway Museum

July 28th-On this day Brittany will get up early and set out for a good day of fishing in Cojimar Village where Hemingway once fished. This will cost about 20 dollars for a cheap pole and some bait and tackle.  After her fishing trip Brittany will go to La Bodeguita del Medio to eat some fresh fish at this world renowned restaurant. This restaurant is only a few steps away from the Plaza de la Catedral.

                                                  Cojimar Village

July 29th– Brittany’s trip will abruptly end and will have a flight back home leaving at 9:00 a.m. to go to Cuba. Then from Cuba she will fly to Orlando, and then from Orlando to Idaho Falls. This flight in total will cost Brittany $950. At Idaho Falls she will be picked up by a relative or friend, and driven to Ketchum to visit where Hemingway died.
